THE CRUISE 2027 | Barcelona – Villefranche-sur-Mer for Nice – Portofino – Naples – Malta – Palermo – Cagliari – Barcelona, from 15 to 24 July 2027

The Cruise 2027, powered by gay circuit party La Démence from Brussels in Belgium, will return from 15 to 24 July 2027 with an extended nine-night itinerary spanning Spain, France, Italy, and Malta; marking the first time in 15 years that the LGBTQIA+ sailing has been lengthened. The voyage will take place aboard the Celebrity Equinox, with bookings opening on Tuesday 24 March at 13:00 CET.

This year’s cruise, staying in Iberia, is sold old.

Extended format and Mediterranean route

Organisers have added two extra days to the programme under the name ‘Jewels of the Western Mediterranean‘, aiming to create a more balanced experience between shore excursions, onboard entertainment and relaxation.

The cruise will depart from Barcelona in Catalonia and follow a Mediterranean route including stops in Villefranche-sur-Mer for Nice in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Portofino in Liguria, Naples in Campania, Malta, Palermo in Sicily, and Cagliari in Sardinia, alongside two full days at sea. The itinerary combines major cultural destinations with leisure time on board, before returning to Barcelona on 24 July.

Midsize ship with premium positioning

The Celebrity Equinox, a Solstice-class vessel operated by Celebrity Cruises, will host the event. The ship accommodates 2,852 passengers and is designed to offer a more intimate atmosphere compared to larger cruise liners – a feature organisers highlight as key to fostering a strong sense of community.

Facilities include three swimming pools, multiple whirlpools, a dedicated nudist sun deck, 12 bars and 10 restaurants ranging from buffet dining to speciality venues. The ship also features a spa, fitness centre and exclusive suite areas under ‘The Retreat‘ concept.

Range of cabins and onboard options

Travellers can choose from a broad range of cabin categories, from interior cabins for budget-conscious guests to suites with private amenities and access to exclusive areas.

Optional drink packages are available, priced at €349 for non-alcoholic options, €699 for the Classic package and €799 for the Premium package, all including gratuities. Packages can be booked during the reservation process or added later at a higher price.

Entertainment and community focus

As with previous editions, the cruise will centre on LGBTQIA+ entertainment and social programming, including drag performances, themed parties and DJ sets. Specific party themes will be announced approximately six months before departure, with organisers encouraging — but not requiring — costumes.

Positioned as both a holiday and a community-driven event, The Cruise continues to market itself as a space for connection, celebration and self-expression at sea.

Strong demand anticipated

With its expanded format, varied itinerary and established reputation, The Cruise 2027 is expected to attract high demand. Organisers advise prospective travellers to prepare in advance for bookings, as cabins are likely to sell out quickly once reservations open.
