Sidetrack.be, using Ghost, and Sidetrack.blog, using WordPress, were started in February 2026 as side project to Trip By Trip. There was some uncertainty of what would become of TBT. Would it continue? Would I continue?
The genesis of Sidetrack happened during a Saturday morning gym session. While working out, I decided to continue blogging and decided on the name.
Why Sidetrack? I got sidetracked by someone else, I also get sidetracked as in my thoughts wander and wonder. It’s also a side activity next to Trip By Trip. But the name also refers to trains and tracks. And I’m mostly a side. If you don’t know what that is, Google it.
I was in doubt between Sidetrack and Sidetracked, but I think Sidetrack is more active.
What will become of the two Sidetrack blogs? As I’m writing this, I haven’t defined it yet. The name allows to get sidetracked from initial ideas. I think I will focus on travel stories more at Trip By Trip, and bring other subjects here. I will probable also syndicate posts.

I’m Timothy, born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium. I was born in June 1981 so I’m … when you read this.
I have a bachelor’s degree in communications (in Dutch), with a minor in journalism. Professionally, I never did something in journalism. But I had a few communication jobs.
I have though over twenty years of writing and blogging experience. Including Gay2Day, Lacquemant, Talk of the Town, ZiZo and ZiZo Online, and Be Out. I still contribute to Antwerp Pride Magazine. And Trip By Trip obviously.
