ANTWERP | 27 June Reclaim Our Pride protest march postponed due to extreme heat, evening event at Het Bos to proceed

In Antwerp, the Reclaim Our Pride team announced on Thursday that its protest march, scheduled for Saturday 27 June 2026, has been postponed due to an ongoing heat wave and extreme temperatures forecast for the day. Organisers stated that they could not guarantee the safety of all participants under such conditions, describing the decision as difficult but necessary.

The evening event at Het Bos, however, will go ahead as planned. Starting at 18:00, attendees can expect speeches, food, and an open stage. Additional safety measures will be in place, including fans, sunscreen, aftersun, plenty of water, and salty snacks. The organisers encourage attendees to bring personal fans and to stay hydrated.

A new date for the march will be announced in due course. The team expressed their disappointment but emphasised their commitment to prioritising the health and safety of the community. They look forward to seeing everyone at Het Bos, where the spirit of protest and resistance will continue in a safer environment.

Reclaim Our Pride?

Reclaim Our Pride positions itself as an alternative to Antwerp Pride, which is too gentrified, too mainstream, too polished for Reclaim Our Pride’s liking. Last year, some genderqueer organisations and people held a first Reclaim Our Pride event.
