Slim naar Antwerpen / Smart ways to Antwerp app gets major update

The Slim naar Antwerpen / Smart ways to Antwerp app has received a major overhaul, making it easier for residents, commuters and visitors to find up-to-date multimodal travel information for journeys to and around Antwerp.

The app, which has been available for iOS and Android for eight years, has been given a new design, structure and improved connection with the Slim naar Antwerpen website. More than 40,000 people actively used the app last year.

One of the main changes is the closer integration between the app and website. Updates to mobility data are now automatically reflected on both platforms, ensuring that users receive the same current information regardless of how they access the service.

Route planning and mobility information combined

The route planner and mobility map have been brought together in a single interface. Mobility information is now organised by theme and can be found more easily using filters.

The renewed design and navigation are also intended to make route guidance to and from Antwerp more stable and user-friendly.

The range of transport options available through the planner has been updated to reflect Antwerp’s current mobility offer. Users can plan routes combining public transport with shared mobility services including Velo, Donkey Republic, Blue-bike, Lime, Voi, Bolt, Felyx, Cambio, and Poppy.

The multimodal route planner will continue to be developed. One of the next planned improvements will make it easier for users to select recent and favourite searches when planning a journey.

‘Always the most up-to-date travel advice’

Antwerp Alderman for Mobility Koen Kennis (N-VA) said the app was an important tool for keeping the city accessible. “Slim naar Antwerpen is an important instrument for us to keep the city accessible. Through the app, residents, commuters and visitors always have access to the most up-to-date travel advice. This makes it increasingly easy to choose the smartest combination of transport modes for every journey.”

Further improvements are planned for the coming months and years, with feedback from users expected to play an important role in determining future developments.

Users can submit suggestions and comments to Slim naar Antwerpen by email or through its social media channels.
