The summer holiday at the Belgian Coast was an absolute hit for tourism, Belga reports. This was announced by West Flanders provincial organisation Westtoer shortly before the end of the holiday period. There were 11.2 million overnight stays, of which 5.6 million in July, setting a monthly record.
“The summer of 2026 was a triumph for the Belgian Coast. From June onwards, the summer feeling was in full swing and it persisted throughout the holiday,” said provincial deputy for Tourism Jurgen Vanlerberghe (Vooruit).
July, with 5.6 million overnight stays, was a record month for the coast. This figure is expected to be matched in August, bringing the total to 11.2 million. The number is 10% higher than last year and is the best result since the COVID-19 period.
There were also 6.1 million day-trippers. This is also the best figure since the COVID-19 period.
